Edinburgh Festival Fringe Showcase and Festival Callout

Extant have big plans in 2026 and 2027 – and we want to hear from you about how your work and ideas might fit in.

In summer 2026, Extant will be working with Underbelly and other partners to present a programme of work at Edinburgh Fringe, including a showcase of visually impaired-led work. We are also planning a festival in Spring 2027 that will platform the very best of visually impaired work and thinking – at every stage of development, both UK-based and internationally.

We’d like to hear from you about what you are working on, the ideas you have brewing, and what input or support you might need from us over the next few months to help bring them to life. We’re looking for new, exciting work that showcases the wide and diverse talents of the visually impaired community.

For Edinburgh Fringe, we are looking for 5-10 minute excerpts of work or performative presentations that could be platformed in a showcase environment at an Underbelly venue. We will negotiate a fair fee with all participating artists, to include UK travel and accommodation. Send us your ideas by the end of March, and please include the following information:

• Name of artist or company
• Title of the work to be presented
• Brief description of the work to be presented (200 words)
• Technical requirements
• Number of people who would travel to Edinburgh, and their roles on the project
• Your ‘home base’ location
• Please indicate any access requirements that you or your team would need in order to participate
• Any additional information you think Extant should know

For the festival in Spring 2027, we are open to hearing your ideas responding to the festival themes of themes of technology, climate challenges, preservation of the past and Nuvo-human thinking. Send us your ideas in a format that best suits you – that could be an email, a tour pack or anything in between. We will assess submissions on a rolling basis.
