Opportunity! Apply for Extant’s Future Labs
Come and test ideas in creative performance Labs with us this Spring!
Lab 1: 18th-19th March at Battersea Arts Centre, London
Lab 2: 3rd-4th June at Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester
Taking inspiration from technology, climate challenges, preservation of the past and Nuvo-human thinking, we invite you to explore new creative ideas through a visually impaired performance approach.
Lab attendees will explore practical ways to build your ideas towards future performance opportunities with Extant and beyond, based on your submitted responses to the Lab themes.
The Labs will be led by Extant’s Artistic Director, Maria Oshodi and Trainee Artistic Director, Tam Gilbert, and we’ll work through guided discussion, exercises and presentation in a supportive environment alongside fellow visually impaired peers.
Lab 1: 18th-19th March at Battersea Arts Centre, London
For this Lab, we would like you to submit your ideas about what excites you about the themes listed above, in any style of response.
Lab 2: 3rd-4th June at Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester
For this Lab, we would like you to submit ideas for adaptation of existing works, however common or obscure, which reflect the above themes. You can use as a source for inspiration short stories, novels, art works, music, gaming, myth, news stories.
If you are interested in taking part in either Lab, please apply to [email protected] with a brief artist biography (max. 200 words), and a short paragraph (100-200 words) in response to the prompts listed above. You are welcome to apply by video or sound file if that is more accessible than written application.
We have a limited number of travel bursaries available. If you would like to be considered for a travel bursary, please include information about your travel and accommodation needs with your application.
The deadline to apply for the London Lab is Monday 16th February, 10am and the deadline to apply for the Leicester Lab is Monday 6th April, 10am.
